Volunteer Opportunities

Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper has many volunteer opportunities to help protect and restore the environment. These opportunities are described below:

Spring Shoreline Sweep

We conduct two region wide cleanups per year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall.  Our next cleanup will be the Spring Shoreline Sweep, April 18, 2009.  Please put it on your calendar for the Spring and check our website in March to register and let us know if you would like to be a Cleanup Captain who will lead their team of volunteers or if you are an individual volunteer who would like to be placed in a cleanup crew.

Riverwatch Captain Program

Volunteer to routinely test the water quality or monitor outfalls along the Buffalo & Niagara Rivers and its tributaries. For more information, see our Riverwatch Captain program page. (Click on heading)

Outreach Docent

RIVERKEEPER is looking for volunteers to lead ecological hiking, biking, and paddling tours, tours on cruise boats, tabling at events, and other outreach projects.

General

Periodically, volunteers are needed for special administrative tasks. Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled database entry assistant to help with updating our membership database.
